The 2007 year had several key milestones. More physicians than ever participated in our innovative Risk Rewards program to successfully manage liability risk while also receiving CME credit and premium discounts.We began to see the benefits of our medical litigation reform law, enacted in 2005, with lower frequency trends and the return of competition. As a result we lifted, on a limited basis, the moratorium on new business and began a pilot program for distribution of dividends to eligible policyholders.
However, 2007 also brought a constitutional challenge to our newly enacted medical litigation reform law.
As we move toward the future, we will build on our successes and face our challenges.We will fight opposition to our reform law and have brought in a remarkable defense team to uphold the law’s constitutionality.We will continue to work with you to develop new ways to manage liability risk through risk management programs, coverage options, and aggressive defense of claims. All delivered with the very best physician-first service.
