century looks eerily like the start of its first.
Since its inception in 1976, ISMIE's goal has been to provide Illinois physicians with stability they can rely on, independent of the whims of other malpractice insurance carriers. ISMIE has done more than weather the original malpractice crisis of 1975 - we're now the number one physician insurer in Illinois, with an A- ("excellent") financial rating to boot. Given that many insurers' ratings are being downgraded due to market conditions, ISMIE has demonstrated that stability and physician-first service are the best medicine for Illinois physicians.
