News from ISMS Fairness Bill Reaches Destination

A signature by Governor Blagojevich will mark the final stop of a three-year journey toward enacting Fairness in Contracting legislation, already approved by the Illinois House and Senate.

Known as House Bill 1074, Fairness in Contracting champions improved contracting procedures between physicians and health plans. Procedures include a 30-day review process for proposed contracts and explicit provisions for detailed remittance advice and recoupment explanations.

ISMIE congratulates ISMS on its tireless efforts toward advancing the bill. The imminent passage of this landmark legislation is a result of ISMS leadership and the collaborative efforts of the Illinois House and Senate and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.
