Physicians Made a Difference
The election of Republican Judge Lloyd A. Karmeier to the Illinois State Supreme Court came down to one issue: “Who will rule favorably on efforts to curb a justice system that has produced whopping malpractice verdicts against doctors, driving up medical insurance rates and pushing doctors to shut down their practices?”*

Premium Financing Update
Reflecting an increase of .50 percent in the prime lending rate, the rate charged to premium financing program participants was adjusted to 3.75 percent, from 3.25 percent, effective Sept. 1, 2004. ISMIE Mutual policyholders who were quoted premium financing agreements before the September date, however, will receive the earlier rate.
