Medicolegal Considerations for Employee COVID-19 Vaccinations

July 6, 2021

Many healthcare practices are wondering if they can mandate that their employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Many are also wondering what happens if employees refuse to be vaccinated. Do employers have to make special accommodations for those workers?

ISMIE’s resource COVID-19 vaccines guidance for healthcare professionals provides a section on medicolegal considerations that may be helpful. Be sure to read the guidance from the U.S. Equal Employment Commission about COVID-19, the American with Disabilities Act and other laws that may be related.

It’s also recommended to check with your practice’s counsel who can advise you on federal and state employment law and how it applies to your particular situation.
