Help Your Globe-Trotting Patients Navigate Their Health

May 17, 2022

Are patients seeking your counsel for international travel in the era of COVID-19? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers travel guidance to and from the United States.

Here are the latest tips:

  • Make sure to be up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines before traveling internationally.
  • Check your destination’s COVID-19 situation and travel requirements before traveling; countries may have their own entry and exit requirements.
  • If traveling to the United States by air, you are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before you board your flight.
  • Masks: At this time, the CDC’s order requiring masks on public transportation and at transportation hubs is no longer in effect. However, wearing a mask on an airplane is still required by a number of airlines, such as Japan Airlines and Lufthansa, to name a few. Be sure to check requirements prior to traveling.

There is also CDC guidance for Cruise Ship Travel During COVID-19.

Of course, depending on where they are traveling your patients should also plan to follow other recommended vaccination and safety protocols unrelated to COVID-19.

Wish your patients a healthy Bon Voyage!
