Are You Aware of the TWO Illinois Mandates for Sexual Harassment Prevention Training?

February 25, 2020

Illinois now requires licensed professionals and business owners to comply with sexual harassment prevention training mandates.

ISMIE is here to help you meet those requirements:

All Illinois licensed professionals (who are required to take continuing education) must complete one hour of continuing medical education on sexual harassment prevention training prior to the licensure renewal deadline.

All employers with Illinois employees now are required to provide sexual harassment prevention training to their employees within each calendar year.

The Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) offers resources to assist employers to comply with the new law. IDHR is required to produce a "model training program" for the prevention of sexual harassment, which will become available to the general public at no cost.

If employers would prefer to develop their own sexual harassment prevention training program, it must equal or exceed IHRA's training standards. Illinois employers have until Dec. 31, 2020, to comply with the requirement.
