April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month

April 11, 2023

ISMIE offers important information to help you identify victims of abuse

National Child Abuse Prevention Month takes place in April and aims to raise awareness of the common signs displayed by children in abusive situations. As a physician, it’s also necessary to understand the reporting requirements of the state in which you practice to enable you to be in the best position possible to help your patients.

ISMIE offers several resources and provides guidance to help you establish processes for addressing potential abuse and neglect if you are confronted with such a scenario.

A recent webinar on child abuse and neglect prevention training hosted by ISMIE is now available on-demand. Although the course is mostly geared toward meeting the state of Illinois’ CME mandate for child abuse and neglect prevention training, it also provides relevant information for physicians and clinicians in other states.
