ISMIE’s Patient Safety Center Is Here to Support You in Providing Quality Care
January 31, 2023
New one-stop resource to help reduce risk exposure and protect patient safety
Patient safety is at the core of ISMIE’s Risk Management program. The recently launched Patient Safety Center was created to provide you, our policyholders, with resources to help facilitate the safe delivery of care.
Patient safety goes beyond hand-washing and prevention of falls. While those are important, it also extends to considerations such as effective communication with patients, cultural respect, health equity and emergency preparedness to name a few.
The Patient Safety Center categorizes interventions into approximate levels of effort to be addressed: basic, mid-tier and large-scale. That includes everything from hand-hygiene to preventing mistakes in surgery to workplace violence prevention. While specific strategies used to safeguard patient safety will vary at each practice or facility, the information provided will help you carefully consider the best approach for reducing risk.
The Center also provides access to the leading governmental and non-governmental agencies focused on patient safety.
Be sure to check back often as we will be updating resources frequently with lessons learned from ISMIE’s risk assessment program and strategies for improving patient safety at your practice or facility.
Share the Patient Safety Center with your colleagues, staff and patients! It’s publicly available for free.
