The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting an increase in cases of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) in Illinois and warning of the potential for more cases in other states. CDC officials are reminding physicians to remain diligent in screening for mpox in patients with symptoms or who have may have been exposed to the virus, as well as to report any cases to their local health department. Also, remind your at-risk patients that a vaccine is available.
