Few Patients Use Telehealth, But Those Who Do Love the Experience

November 12, 2019

A recent survey by J.D. Power found that only 1 in 10 patients use telehealth services. However, the same study revealed very high customer satisfaction scores for telehealth services. Both payer-provided telehealth services and direct-to-consumer firms received high marks for convenience and cost-effectiveness.

J.D. Power predicts that as telehealth programs increase awareness of their services and streamline the enrollment process, this technology will “change the landscape of how affordable and quality care is delivered.”

If you’re thinking about adding telemedicine services to your practice, ISMIE is here to help. Our Risk Management Resource Library's article on telemedicine covers important considerations such as telemedicine laws; privacy and security; obtaining informed consent; documentation; and determining which illnesses are appropriate to treat via telemedicine.

Be sure to speak with your broker or underwriter about coverage before you begin seeing patients virtually – either within the state you are practicing or outside your state. You can reach ISMIE’s underwriting team at 800-782-4767 ext. 3350 or by email.
