Reducing Diagnostic Error With Your EHR

Diagnostic errors are still plaguing the health care system. In 2015, the National Academy of Sciences (formerly IOM) brought them to the forefront, shifting from the focus on medication and procedural errors.

But diagnostic errors are complex, often involving cognitive processes, health care team dynamics, and system breakdowns. While there are many techniques that can work together to improve diagnosis, this program will focus on the electronic health record’s (EHR’s) role in keeping your patients safe.

Two international experts will join us to discuss the relationship between diagnostic error and EHRs, including both common configuration pitfalls and opportunities for improvement. The seminar will examine how EHRs can be more than simply a place to house patient information: They can also be an integral part of the health care team and an important tool for providing better and safer care.
