COVID-19 Rates Rising Among Kids and Across the Nation

Recent data compiled by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) reveals that coronavirus spread has "increased at a faster rate in children and teenagers than among the general public." However, severe illness due to COVID-19 appears to remain rare among children.
Meanwhile, average rates of new cases among all age groups have climbed three of the last five days across the United States. The Midwest is showing particularly high numbers, even as outbreaks slow in former hotspots such as Texas, Florida and California.
