The Next National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is October 24

April 26, 2022

Continuing the fight against the opioid epidemic!

Twice a year the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) hosts a drug take back day to build awareness about properly disposing unused or outdated prescriptions. The event encourages the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

At the last drug take back day on Oct. 23, 2021, the DEA collected a whopping 745,000 pounds of medications!

While preventing unused medications from getting into the hands of those who might misuse them, it is important to remember that unwanted prescription medications should be disposed of appropriately.

For safe disposal of controlled substances, let patients know about the DEA’s next National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30. For year-round disposal of controlled substances, locate a convenient collection site.
