Coming in October: Prescription Drug Take Back Day

September 20, 2022

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is preparing to host its fall National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29 to bring awareness about the importance of safely disposing unused or outdated controlled substance prescriptions. More than 700,000 pounds of unneeded meds were collected at the DEA’s spring 2022 event.
Encourage your patients to remove unneeded medications from their homes and bring them to a convenient collection site to help prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction.
The unwanted medicines should be delivered to the collection location in the original container, if possible, and personal information should be removed or blacked out.
