Focus on Protecting Children in April

April 20, 2021

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a month set aside to raise awareness about preventing child abuse and neglect. The month recognizes the importance of supporting families and communities to foster healthy child and youth development.

In Illinois, healthcare professionals are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse. ISMIE offers a recording of the webinar, Child Abuse and Neglect: Mandated Reporter Training for Illinois Healthcare Professionals, designed to meet the training mandate set forth by the state to comply with Illinois’ child abuse reporting law. The course will teach you how to identify indicators for child abuse and neglect and how to respond and report suspected cases, including the documentation that is needed.

ISMIE also offers this new resource, Vulnerable populations: Child abuse, that provides information for healthcare professionals to be in the best position to help their young patients and families, if needed.
