Healthcare workers are much more likely to be injured by violence at work than those in other occupations, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. And many healthcare workers are reporting more violent encounters with patients since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s important to remember that workplace violence refers to all types of aggressive behavior, not only catastrophic events like an active shooter, but also lower-level aggressions, such as yelling, shoving and spitting.
