Extension Granted to Renew Your Illinois Medical License! But Don’t Delay!
August 8, 2023
ISMIE has CME courses for you
The newly extended deadline for Illinois physicians to renew their licenses is Aug. 31, 2023. For this renewal period, and thanks to the Illinois State Medical Society, licensing renewal fees will be waived for physicians and other healthcare professionals in acknowledgement of their heroic efforts on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic!
If you missed the August 31 deadline, late renewals will require a fee of $543, plus additional penalties.
Renewal is conducted only via the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) web site. There are reports the Department is experiencing a heavy volume of requests for support, so don’t wait until the last minute to renew.
If you need assistance navigating the online process, please send an email to IDFPR and write “NEED ASSISTANCE RENEWING” in the subject line. Also in your email, please provide your name, the best phone number to reach you and your 036 (medical) license number.
You can also access IDFPR’s online resource, Tips for First Time Registration to Renew a Professional License (Individual Accounts).
Still need CME hours? ISMIE has created a special page with available on-demand CME courses, including CME that fulfills Illinois mandates for license renewal.
For more information about the courses, please contact the Risk Management Division by email.
