Summary:

Physicians, clinicians, other clinical and non-clinical staff are in a unique position to identify victims of domestic violence due to the type of relationship they have with their patients and their ability to intervene and report the abuse, as appropriate. Identifying and helping these victims can be difficult and complex, but it’s important to know common signs displayed by those in domestic violence situations and to understand the reporting requirements of the state in which you practice. This will enable you to be in the best position to help your patient, if needed.
