While it might seem counterintuitive, experts say that holiday visiting could be the ideal time for discussions about advance directives. Family and friends are already gathered and one can take the opportunity to ask loved ones what they may want – whether the time seems far off in the distance or is imminent.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 70% of Americans do not have an advance care plan. Encourage patients to start the conversation with their loves ones this holiday season.
