Hospitals and Clinics Remain Among the Most Violent Workplaces in America

November 12, 2024

Check out ISMIE’s violence prevention toolkit

According to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare and social services account for about 73% of the more than 57,000 nonfatal workplace violence incidents that required employees to miss work. And women were overwhelmingly more likely to be the victims of the violence.

ISMIE’s violence prevention toolkit is designed to help policyholders mitigate violence in healthcare settings and includes these resources:

  • “Quick guides” covering de-escalation strategies and basic safety tips on recognizing the warning signs of violence
  • A sample patient code of conduct
  • Printable templates, such as a “no violence tolerated” poster

In addition, policyholders can access ISMIE courses related to addressing violence in the workplace.
