Supporting Physician Well-being Key to Quality Patient Care

April 15, 2025

Occupational distress is common among healthcare professionals and can have substantial personal and professional implications. Extensive research has shown a strong link between physicians’ personal well-being and the quality of care they provide patients.

During the 2024 ISMIE Risk Management Symposium, Tait Shanafelt, M.D., Chief Wellness Officer at Stanford Medicine, discussed various approaches to promote well-being for healthcare professionals. This session is now available as an on-demand course for policyholders, offering CME and a premium discount for eligible policyholders:

Charting a Course to Foster Clinician Well-being

This course also describes some of the norms and values of the culture of medicine that contribute to clinician distress. Dr. Shanafelt explains how these factors can be evolved to create a more supportive practice environment for healthcare professionals and their patients.

All sessions from the 2024 ISMIE Risk Management Symposium have now been archived and are available for you to revisit or view for the first time.

Planning is already underway for ISMIE’s 2025 Risk Management Symposium, which will be held in a virtual format in early November. More details to come later this year!
