New Risk Tips Available for Family and Internal Medicine

Family medicine and internal medicine physicians are on the frontlines of patients' healthcare needs. They are often the initial contact and supervisor for the patient’s care among specialists, laboratories and other healthcare facilities. Each aspect requires careful planning, as well as adherence to established procedures.

ISMIE offers new risk tips on family medicine to help guide them through the considerations, practice policies, procedures and communication that should be in place for your healthcare team to promote patient safety and to mitigate risk.

A similar new risk tips resource is also available for internal medicine physicians.

Although medicine continues to change, the essentials of strong risk management remain the same. Reducing risk doesn’t have to be a daunting, time-consuming task! Many risk management practices are adjustments you can make to the day-to-day work you already do, while others involve creating and/or following processes in your practice.
