Happy Anniversary ISMIE Risk Rewards!

Time flies! This year, ISMIE is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Risk Rewards program.

Since ISMIE’s inception in 1976, we have prioritized patient safety. We are proud to be among the first medical professional liability insurers to offer risk management support to our policyholders.

In 2004, former ISMIE Chairman Harold Jensen, M.D., recognized the value in providing patient safety education and risk mitigation support to physicians and as a result, formalized the Risk Rewards program. Now, two decades later, ISMIE has amassed data demonstrating that participation in this programming is correlated with improved patient safety and lower incidences of lawsuits – both obvious benefits to insureds.

As of 2023, more than 80% of eligible policyholders participate in ISMIE’s Risk Management program. Since the launch of the program, ISMIE has offered hundreds of activities to aid our policyholders.
